SL Fashion Poll: Tootsies ?

zane_017.JPG

Dear Readers,

We here are SLFP wanna hear from you! A newer trend in fashion has popped up and we’re not quite sure if it’s a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

While I think the toes are quite cute and much better then the boxy avatar toes, we’ve never seen them done in a manner that they look natural.

One observer exclaimed: it looks like some one stole someone else’s toes and sewed them a pair of shoes.

I have not yet had a chance to launch a full investigation, so I’m calling out to all the Jr. Fashion Police Agents on the grid to help determine if prim toes are a Yay or Nay?

  1. Nika Dreamscape Says:

Diva! The prim toe/shoes from J’s are wonderful! That picture is a horrible example- they come with a menu based color change script so you can match the toes to your skin. They should never look like that and I’ve never seen a match so far off. Prim toes look natural and are MUCH better than those weird boxy looking feet we all come with. Don’t let that picture be the what you base prim toes off of. It looks nothing at all like that.

  2. Sergeant P. Chapman Says:

Well, obviously that person does not know how to adjust the colour to match their skin :P

  3. Trina Noland Says:

I have actually bought a pair or two of shoes with these toes. At first, they scared the hell out of me…BUT after I figured out how to successfully customize the color to match my skin, I was lovin’ them. So, I give them a thumbs up.

  4. observer Says:

whoever is wearing the shoes probably has a face light on too. you can’t wear a face light with those shoes.

  5. Siddean Says:

well maybe if she, or someone near her, wasn’t wearing the “Facelight of a Thousand Suns”, they might be ok :) Personally, I like prim toes a lot better than standard avvie toes, if done well.

  6. Micaela Luminos Says:

Personally, I’m more disturbed by the fact that there is NO FIFTH (pinky) toe. No matter how you slice it (er, no pun intended) there is no way that the fifth toe is just hidden by the strappy shoes. There’s not enough room.

I can understand maybe accidentally losing a pinky toe in a horrific fashion accident, but honestly? Both feet missing the pinky toe?!

  7. Chief D. Rockin Says:

    LOL – Love these responses!!

@Micaela – Yes! I left that off even tho Express said the same thing when he saw the image :)

  8. GOD Says:

Can I speak freely? They f*cking suck. It looks stupid, obviously they don’t match, and not just in this picture but on many many other avatars I’ve seen. It’s not even attractive. Pretty much on the level of those shoes that have walking sounds – crap. I’m tired of seeing things like this called “cute” in SL.

  9. Sasy Scarborough Says:

definitely a face light issue or possibly even a wind light settings issue, dependent on how they photograph prims V’s texture.

I do love them, but I also have no drama with non prim toes unlike many , so I do really love that J’s has both options available.

Another explanation could be that the person wearing at last wear had a much paler skin on , and completely forgetting that wore them with a darker tone, because really how often do you cam around to the front of your avatar to check your toes ? before leaving the house.

As for the four toes thing , hasn’t that always been an arty thing ? I think I read that somewhere once, and just think simpsons and all the other fab toons of the past, I don’t see anything really that wrong with the missing little toe, because after all he did

“weeee weee weee all the way home”

    xox Sasy xox

  10. Eleanor Balbozar Says:

I give a huge thumbs up to the tootsies, especially the shoes by J’s. Anything is better than the regular avvie feet, even if you only get 4 toes. For me it’s either sandals from J’s, closed toed shoes or boots :P And I don’t know what’s wrong w/ that picture, mine never look that bright.

  11. Chalice Carling Says:

Chalice Carling is more frightened of prim toes than she is of creepy clowns. Give me my boxy SL toes anyday. My friend, who is very smart in SL, said that her prim toes go back to their original colour when she takes off the shoes and wears them again.

Don’t know why they gross me out so much. Could be that it’s because I hate toes in RL too. Please I beg you all….match the toes :-(

  12. Dahlia Eilde Says:

    Ok so…
I actually had a discussion at J’s about these toes with Thema Felix. We were torn on the issue, but I’m pretty sure we both walked out of there with a pair.
Now, when I took it home to the judge (Nicolas) the verdict was delivered. Guilty. He hates them! *crosses foot fetish off the list*. Anyway, I love the shoes, but really wish the prim toes were optional as I don’t have the patience to try and match Redgrave skin with 4 white toes.

  13. Elizabeth Hallstrom Says:

I like them as long as it doesnt appear the toes are hanging off the front of the shoe – I hate that in RL also! I personally can wear the toes easily since I go with light tones for my skin choices. But I can definately see the drama with darker skin tones.

  14. Kalia Meiklejohn Says:

I have issues with those toes, minus the fifth toe missing…
No matter how well you tint the toes, other people will see them as the picture shows depending on their settings. So potentially, 50% of the people you run into will be running SL at “medium” graphics or lower, and probably seeing your toes like that.
Gross. Srsly. I’ll continue to buy non-prim toe versions until there is some fix for this.

  15. Terry T Says:

They would be nicer if it wasn’t a menu system, in my personal opinion. I really dislike having to use the menu system to adjust my skin color; I think if I could edit it myself, it might be a better match to my skin than fiddling with ‘lighter’, ‘more red’, ‘less blue’, and so on. I’m an ear fan, so the non-system appendage doesn’t bother me so much.

And the shoes can be bought without the toes. You just have to look in another area, I believe.

  16. Dusky Jewell Says:

LOL! I am glad you posted this, I own two pairs of J’s shoes, spent too much time with the RGB buttons to skin match the toes and after seeing that photo I will triple-check lighting when I wear them.

I hate, absolutely loathe avatar feet, they look like paddles.
